U1.4.2 METHODS OF ITERATION

Based on the copying of the selected art works in the  rst week, I have a preliminary understanding of the material characteristics of Acrylic Gouache. This medium is often used to express organic (natural sense) themes such as landscapes and plants in artistic creation. Its balance of coverage and transparency provides the possibility of delicate hierarchical expression. However, in this more traditional application, the potential of materials seems to be limited to specific contexts.

After recreating on this, I sought to explore unconventional ways of using Acrylic Gouache, freeing it from its traditional natural expression. I posed a key question: Can this organic dominated medium show a rigid (logical, regular) visual language? This exploration aims to redefine the identity and function of materials and reveal their possibilities in logical expression. Moreover, through iterative experiments, it is revealed that Acrylic Gouache is not only a tool to express natural themes, but also an entry point to break through traditional boundaries and form tension and even dialogue with regular logic because of its organic characteristics.
